As a service to citizens
of the Denver metro area, member communities of the Greater
Metro Telecommunications Consortium cooperatively produces a
series of cable television programs in the public interest each
year. These programs are of regional interest, and typically
address important topics that might otherwise not be fully
explored by other media.
“Metro Voices” programs first air on all government access
channels in the Denver metro area through an arrangement with
Comcast, Inc. Subsequently, GMTC member communities with
government access cable channels, usually found on Cable Channel
8, receive copies of each program for re-cablecast as they wish.

archived 2011-12 programs, available here on-demand.
February/March -This month’s
program is focused on youth. From promoting healthy bodies and
minds to teaching basic math and citizenship skills, find out
about a variety of programs across the Metro Area that help
improve the lives of young people.

to the Arts, Fitness to Children’s programming, the government
channel 8’s in the Metro Area have received national recognition
for producing award-winning television programs. On this edition

October/November
2011 -On this edition
of Metro Voices, see how Veterans are honored around the Metro
area by visiting a special Veteran Memorial museum in
Broomfield. Meet a WWII vet who fought at Iwo Jima, and meet the
mother of a Navy Seal who honors the memory of her son who died
while fighting in Afghanistan.
August/September 2011 -Denver has a
brand new municipal animal shelter, and the new Foothills Animal
Shelter is celebrating its one year anniversary this summer. Our
four legged friends make a huge difference in our lives. Learn
all about animals in our area -- from some wonderful stories of
individual animals, to adoptions, licensing, and vaccinations
for your pets.
April/May 2011 -In Adams County,
the libraries have made an amazing transformation -- from the
worst library system in the state to one of the best in the
country! Denver Public Library has opened a brand new 26,000
square foot, state-of-the-art branch in Green Valley Ranch.A
woman in Lakewood used her Jefferson County library to solve a
very noisy problem. A Littleton library uses a program to help
kids as they read to… dogs!
February/March 2011 - We take a
look at the fascinating recycling process, plus learn about a
snow plow drivers’ national “Roadeo” competition, a hybrid
garbage truck, a program to save money for those without
checking accounts and a program bringing hope to children around
the world.
